MEET THE COACH

Ben Corpuz is a Mixed Martial Arts instructor, Black Belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu and a Kru certified Muay Thai Instructor, certified fitness trainer, and a certified kettlebell instructor. Specializing in the area of martial arts, Ben holds a black belt (3rd-degree dan-ranked) in the art of Taekwondo and has competed in numerous amateurs and national level fights. By combining his inherent love for the martial arts with exceptional credentials, Ben has been able to channel his passion for fitness and martial arts into a career through the establishment of BC Kickboxing & BJJ – a premier kickboxing/MMA and personal training facility.

With the changing world of mixed martial arts(MMA), sensei Ben is ever committed to learning all aspects of the game.  Professor Ben is currently an active fighter and a competitor in both stand-up and grappling tournaments. He holds a brown belt in Shotokan Karate. He started his Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and fought under professor Matt “the terror” Serra (former UFC welterweight champion) for 2 years. His blue and purple belts under professor Joe Scarola (3degree black belt) of the Gracie Barra Team New York and Jupiter, Florida locations. He received his brown and officially a  certified Black Belt under Master Roberto Traven (6th-degree Black Belt).  Professor Ben is also well trained in the art of Muay Thai, he is a level 10  certified (MTIA) under the world-renowned Master Toddy in Bangkok Thailand, and trained under Kru Phanthip in Las Vegas NV. He also trained extensively and fought under Ajarn Lacosta 2x World Muay Thai Champion. He was awarded his Kru certification under his tutelage.  Kru Ben has trained and coached a handful of his K1 kickboxer, muay Thai and MMA fighters who had fought and won in the ring and in the cage successfully.

Believing that “true victory is victory over oneself”,  Professor Ben approaches his training and work ethic with great dedication and enthusiasm with the hopes that this philosophy will be instilled in his students, members of his gym, and all of his clients as well.  Professor Ben's many other accomplishments include:(most recent)  2009 American Mixed Martial Arts Organization(AMMO) Featherweight Champion. 2010 IBJJF Pan Am Featherweight Nogi Champion(NYC),  Former 2004 amateur USKBA welterweight Thai Boxing Champion, 2004 New York San Da Kickboxing welterweight tournament Champion,  2013 North America Grappling Association (NAGA) Champion,  2012 World Champion-Grapplers Quest,  2007 NYC King of the Mat welterweight tournament Champion, Long Island Pride gold medalist. Competed at the 2010 IBJJF BJJ World Gi and Nogi and Abu Dhabi Pro Trials IBJJF(NYC). Professor Ben is also a World Kickboxing Association (WKA) affiliate and an International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation fighter.
